Eating the healthiest plant-powered diet possible during chemotherapy treatment is one of the best ways to boost your immune system and tackle cancer. Oncologists used to recommend avoiding healthy foods during chemo for fear of "preserving" cancer cells, but research has proven otherwise and oncologists have now changed their tune. While you may not want to adopt a radically different diet or do a detox that's very limited in calories during chemo for fear of excessive weight loss, juicing veggies and enjoying nutritious green smoothies can help to provide your body with the antioxidants it needs to help you tackle and survive cancer. Just be wary and limit the sugary foods (agave, honey, maple syrup, etc.) and high glycemic index fruits (bananas, mango, pineapple, cherries) in your recipes as they may promote inflammation and insulin production, which could be counterproductive to your therapy. Juices should include no more than 1 fruit for every 3 veggies, and smoothies should include no more than 2 fruit servings total.
